I broke a fluorescent light bulb in my bedroom, will I be okay?

So today I was changing a fluorescent light bulb in my bedroom, you know, the long and white color light bulb and I accidentally drop it and it landed on the chair then fell onto the carpet, now the glass pieces are everywhere on the carpet and some white powdery stuff and then I quickly grab the big glass pieces and then vacuum it with a vacuum cleaner then it was pretty clean then I researched online and found out that these light bulbs contain mercury which is harmful, and the websites said that it shouldn't be vacuum and that I have to pick these shattered glasses up with a glove, and that if you vacuum it the white powder stuff would get airborne so I would get mercury on my skin, inhale it in my nose, lung, so will I get mercury poisoning or be fatal? Would I get cancer, help please. I mean my bedroom is small and not very ventilated.I broke a fluorescent light bulb in my bedroom, will I be okay? One tube is not going to be that harmful, but I certainly would ventilate the room as best as you can

okay this is a pretty big deal mercury is a very toxic sustance and should honestly be cleaned by proffesionals...call up an agency of some kind (maybes even place that made lightbulb you were using) and ask for professional advice. in the meantime i would keep my distance from the spill, open a window, or better yet leave room in general. hope this helps

You are fine, people break the tubes all the time. You pick up the glass, and vacuum the rest up just like you did. If you are concerned, take a shower and wash anything that got powder on it.
ouch, this is serious. I suggest do more research on mercury poisoning and the symptoms, and then if you start feeling any of those call a doctor or poison center. Next time maybe be more careful with those light bulbs, that is why I like the old fashioned bulbs, it is not a big deal if they break.
I think you'll be fun me and my friends have florescent tube fights all the time
Phsst, people (kids way back... like my Grandma) used to PLAY with the mercury out of broken thermometers. YOU'RE FINE! I work on HVAC (heating systems) all the time, and the mercury in the thermostats have yet to kill me. :)

Just dont break them everyday and inhale whats inside, cause THEN your ******
