Does anyone remember the incandescent light bulb?

Does anyone remember the incandescent light bulb?

Nearly everyone will answer yes to this question but in a couple of years that will change as the prime minister has gone against public opinion and has already banned the 100 watt bulb and all pearl coloured bulbs with a further ban on all incandescent light bulbs in a couple of years time. The prime minister is banning the incandescent light bulb in a bid to help prevent global warming and we are forced to install interferer energy saving ones, the Gordon Brown dictatorship so far has ignored all petitions to try and save the bulbs which would let people choose what they want to light their house with, I have found an online petition to save the light bulbs at the 10 downing street e-petitions board and would ask everyone to consider signing it, please don tell me that the energy saving bulbs will save the planet and save me money as I have a couple of those installed and the quality of light I get from them is poor also those bulbs contain mercury and there are no specialist places to dispose of them safely

The link to the e-petitions board

please sign it, at least take a look at it

you might have to cut and paste the link in your address barDoes anyone remember the incandescent light bulb?Hi Jack.

You've got it.

Who advised this idiot government on this issue?

The salesmen for the firms who make these lamps.

Same salesmen who advised the idiot Prescott when he came back from Kyoto to force us to use condensing boilers.

Same people who came up with HIP's. you name it MP's are easy prey.

These idiot MP's. are regarded as people with learning difficulties in the real world, by people with enough savvy to know that they can talk them into anything, simply because MP's. have no experience of life outside their cossetted existence in Westminster.

The energy companies will just raise prices, and the other thing is maybe if we do find it cheaper we will leave lights on more. At least normal lightbulbs won;t damage brains.
Does anyone remember the incandescent light bulb?
yup
planet schmanet - florescent tubs have been here for 100 years %26amp; the planet is not dead yet! %26amp; they do save money 4+ to one.
Unfortunately, both have flaws. The incandescent is bad for the environment, and the %26quot;energy saving%26quot; bulbs have dangerous chemicals in them that can seriously hurt people. You've already covered the mercury part, so I won't get into that.

In my opinion, people should stick with the incandescent because if they break, no one has to evacuate the house and open all the windows to air out the mercury. Also, incandescents are more adaptable with their brightness. I have one lamp in my house with the curly energy saver and the light is so intense! And blue! Not very relaxing or comfortable.

The whole problem would be solved if people would just turn off the lights at night and in rooms that they are not in. But that's too hard.

Unfortunately, I'm an American, so I don't think my vote will qualify on your petition.
Of course they're not going to save the planet, but personally I like the fact that I don't have to change bulbs as often. Ikea %26amp; many Whole Foods Markets take any kind of energy saving bulbs for recycling.

And I like them fine. The thing is with mass marketed CFLs, you only get one type of light. I did some research on the web and found some that are cool light, warm light, and mass spectrum.

If the bulbs aren't bright enough, get a higher wattage. As long as the actual bulb wattage (not wattage equivalent) doesn't exceed the maximum of the socket you're putting the bulb into, you can actually come out with brighter light.

As for the incandescents, look in shops in poorer neighbourhoods. Here in the States, lower income families can't afford CFLs so those stores (we have 99 cents stores here for example) still sell the regular bulbs.
Alas signing will do no good as dictatorships do not heed the will of the people

We are forced to live in semi-dark because these idiots think it will help save the

planet. It is apologist, leftist .petty mindedness and a step back towards the dark age.
Ok, so they are lamps, not bulbs.

It's GLS (General Lighting Service) Lamps which are no longer sold. You can still buy for example rough service lamps (for inspection lamps); crown silver, directional lamps (60/ 100W floodlights), specialist lamps (red lamps for fieplace effects) and multiple other varieties.

Incandescents also include HalogenA lamps.
Unfortunately for old people the new energy saving bulbs are not bright enough to read by,we just have to go to bed when it goes dark.. - but that means we put no more coal on the fire, so that saves energy!
