want my hair a little lighter so i was thinking highlights but people said that getting lowlights brings out your color and makes it look lighter. and then people said the roots with medium blonde hair are ugly and lowlights arent as bad.
my concern is what they would look like with different lighting because my hair has a major color change when it comes to different lighting!

Low lights for you would probably be a darker brown color giving your hair a darker feel. You could always do both highs and lows, but then your natural hair color can easily be %26quot;lost%26quot; as in people wont know what color your hair naturally is. Not to mention if the color isn't done properly it can look trashy.
The American Idol girl has highlights. You can tell by looking at her roots. With the rich color you seem to have highlights would most likely work if they were just a shade or two brighter then your natural hair color. And over time the grow-out would not be as noticed due to your already naturally rich color.
The difference between your hair and the American Idol girl's hair is your hair seems to have more gold, yes, where as her blonde is more ashy like mine. (I stopped highlighting my hair about 3 years ago)
With gold its harder to tell if its a highlight because the hair color is already so rich
With ashy its a lot easier to tell because the natural color is not as rich as the dye
