Fish tank water color?

i put a fish medication in my tank and it turned my water blue. i though it looked cool. so i took the light bulbs out and colored them blue and my tank has a blue tint to it i was wonderning is there a dye that i can put in the tank to change the color of the water that wont kill the fish and is non toxic. i have nothing but goldfish in it wit 2 algae eatters n a frogFish tank water color?it might not be good for them but food dye is nontoxic ,,, you could use it,,,, when I say it might not be good for them I mean if you change the water color you block out certain wavelengths of light the fish might need the full spectrum of light to remain healthy,,, there may be certain vitamins that are produced by only the full spectrum light like we get vitamin d from sunlight,,, good luck to you and your fish!!

There is, in fact, such a dye. It's sold for outdoor ponds, but I suppose you could use it in a fish tank if you reduced the amount proportionally.

However, it would make it hard to see your fish and frog.

I think using colored lights, which are easily available, will give you the effect you want better than coloring the water would, and with less complication of your water chemistry.

The stated purpose of the water dye is to prevent algae growth by limiting the amount of light that penetrates the water (because the dye is fairly opaque and therefore blocks light). However, it is not at all clear to me why it would be preferable to have your water murky with blue or green dye instead of murky with green algae.

We use a blue colored dye in our pond to keep the algae down. You would have to measure the correct dose for the tank.
Changing the color bulb was the best way to alter the water color.

Goldfish should really not be housed with algae eaters or frogs.
you should get dfish foodc that hepls maintain clean water and the kind of filter that keeps ur water clean!!!!!!! and get any fish but gold fish they r the dirtest fish ever!
You should never add any dyes to your aquarium water.
