My pool light was out for a few months and I changed a couple of bulbs that were burnt out. Now the light will work, but only temporary as it will heat up and fade out. Any ideas? the GFCI breaker never trips and the light will sometimes come back on after it cools.Why does my Jandy Colors pool light fade and shut off after warm up?Either they are too high a wattage and run to hot, or the wiring/light socket is loose.
Thermal protection will turn the electricity off when it gets to hot. High wattage means they give off more heat and cause a fire or melt the wiring.
If the socket or the wiring is loose it will cause the fixture to get hot, hot enough to cause the thermal protector to shut off.
GFCI's read the difference between neutral and ground. During a short or stray electricity looking for a path. It saves you from getting shocked by turning off the electricity.
